Cine Mysteria ► bit.ly/4doDlHn Archaeologists will make a lot of discoveries over the course of their careers, but only a few that truly amaze them. Ask any archaeologist about the most spectacular thing they’ve ever seen, and they’ll have a list of perhaps two or three incredible discoveries that stand out more than all the rest. This video is about those discoveries. They were career highligh...

Cine Mysteria ► bit.ly/4doDlHn No matter what day of the month it is, or what month of the year it is, there's always an archaeologist making an incredible discovery somewhere. They sometimes get help from the general public, too, because you don't necessarily have to be an archaeologist to find something amazing! We always keep a close eye on what's happening in the exciting field of archaeolo...

Cine Mysteria ► bit.ly/4doDlHn Archaeologists must sometimes feel like they’ve seen everything there is to see. After all, once you’ve seen one fragment of pottery, you’ve seen them all. Every now and then, though, they’ll come across something that stops them in their tracks and makes them remember why they took up archaeology in the first place. Cine Mysteria ► bit.ly/4doDlHn One of the hardest truths that archaeologists have to face is that they'll never know everything there is to know about their discoveries. Some of the things they come across during their work don't seem to fit with the established narrative of history, and others have purposes that we can only guess at. Not knowing all the details only makes the discoveries more ...

Cine Mysteria ► bit.ly/4doDlHn The technologies used by our ancient ancestors are often a mystery to us. Many of our ancestors didn't have a written language, and some of them didn't even leave drawings behind, so their knowledge is lost to us! While the technology we enjoy today is marvellous, it's hard not to feel like we've lost a little knowledge when we study the accomplishments of those w...

The Sphinx isn't a Lion. Never was, never will be. It is Anubis, a Jackal, The Egyptian God of Death and the Underworld. The Ears and Nose fell, and a Pharaoh face was carved there instead, that is why the head is so small.

I know it's important to learn from the past, but the degree of looking back sometimes is just plain wasteful. Worrying about the smell of something that this old, I do not understand. In my opinion, the funds could be better utilized.

Don't react hateful I have Indian blood in me too. But I didn't grow up around it and I'm just white. Every time I drive through the rez I see natives with brand new Escalade and dirt bikes beat to shit broken laying in the front yard. All the locals fat lazy unemployed doing nothing with them selves.why? Why don't they do better for themselves their families their tribes? I feel we should rid the US of reservations and people might do better being forced to fall in like every one else.

I keep hearing about Iridium being found to be in the mix of metals (Gold, Silver & Copper) found in object made in the America's, 1000 of years ago. Due to the fact that ether, Global Impact of Meteors was at a much higher rate or the impact of a large one. Space gives us a large portion of the Iridium we find and is used to indicate Earth Impacts by leaving higher concentrations of it in layers of sediment.

Lion changed to Egyptian face. Pigeon poo and wster eroded the nose. It's limestone and Pigeon poo will eroded limestone fast. Pigeons are always hanging around the pyramids, and Sphinx. Look up limestone erosion on buildings from Pigeon poo. I believe the Sphinx was used as a storage unit designed as a lion for spiritual protection per se, for seed, grain, wines and Dried meats possible . Aliens NO !!!

No but we have the same techniques used in forensic science to rebuild victims of crime bones into faces. Plus the DNA itself directly determines looks making it so very easy to work out what someone looked like. For example, we could use this technique to rebuild the face of innocent people murdered by Christians is the crusades, the inquisition and the salem witch hunts, or the shape of a dinosaurs head from millions of years ago. In a few thousand years they could dig you up and rebuild your head for a museum.

This has got to be one of the very worst videos on archeology I've seen yet. Apart from the shockingly poor knowledge on the subject, just about everything you say about archeology is distinctly 18/19th century in attitude. I couldn't even get past the introduction it was so bad. The line about archeologists barely ever having any truly exciting finds is just complete nonsense and shows the only research you did for this was look up how to spell the word, and precious little else. Just so you know - an archeologist - any archeologist will tell you, with misty eyes, about that time they found a scrap of pottery, a barely perceptable mark in the soil, that PROVES what was speculated about before - that is something any archeologist will remember forever. Your idea of archeology went out with Schliemann.
